Tasmanian Artist, Lyn Stares.

Hi my name is Lynette Stares, but everyone calls me Lyn. In 1989 I moved to Central Coast of Tasmania from the Central Coast of N.S.W with my husband and two young sons and this is where my story begins.

I have always loved drawing and  have always admired  artists and their work. My wish has always been to be an artist and make my living from art.  But raising 4 sons (yes we had another two sons ) and  holding down casual work while living on a small farm my dreams just had to wait .  So in 2003 as my youngest son headed to Grade 5, I headed to TAFE to study full time. Two years later I attained my ” Art Craft and Design Diploma ” majoring in painting. The course covered all aspects of drawing, painting and print making. I loved every second of the 2 years. I learnt  so much, and through the course I was  offered work as a face painter at our local Penguin Markets, and now Face painting  takes me all over Tasmania and across Bass Strait. From December through to May I work for Company called Creature Tales  on the  passenger ferry that travels between Devonport Tasmania and Port Melbourne Victoria.  Creature  Tales entertains  and educates people about Tasmanian wildlife,  environment, and cultural  heritage. We educate through the arts. I face paint Tasmanian wildlife  and Tasmanian scenes on  children and adults faces and I also do quick caricatures with a Tasmanian twist. It’s a lot of fun.

I also do Air brush Tattooing (Temporary Tattoos)  and I can create  any design or logo and turn it into  a  air brush tattoo. Something to think about for the Xmas party.

I attend weekly art classes  at the Burnie Coastal Art Group with the wonderful Abstract Artist Margret Brown. I also attend every workshops I can. Being around others artist just inspires me to create.

I’m  now the Burnie Coastal Art Group’s  Newsletter Editor, so if I don’t answer your emails straight away you’ll understand why.
